Katrina Van Humbeck
Katrina Van Humbeck is a vocalist, composer, piano player, and educator based in Winnipeg, MB. She performs her own unique brand of Jazz Fusion, with a dose of Inspiration. She started songwriting after the death of her mother in 2016 and she never stopped. Her music has earned her nominations with the GMA Canada Awards (2022 Jazz Artist of The Year), and with the Western Canadian Music Awards (2020 Spiritual Artist of The Year).
She has three studio recorded albums of original songs to her credit: her recently released third album, Stronger Still (April 30th, 2022); her sophomore album, Doing A New Thing (October 2018); and her debut album, Blue & Beyond (February 2017); all of which reflect influences of the jazz greats and her background in various musical genres.
Katrina’s music is inspired by the themes of love, courage, faith, and living life. She hopes that her listeners will relate to her music personally and are moved to experience life in a fuller way. Whether she is performing solo, in a trio, or with a full ten-piece band, she delights in entertaining audiences around Winnipeg and abroad with her original music, and classic jazz and soul standards.
Katrina has performed and collaborated with some of Winnipeg’s finest jazz musicians, including the Ron Paley Trio, Larry Roy (guitar), Richard Gillis (trumpet), Karl Kohut (double bass), Gilles Fournier (double bass), Neil Watson (saxophone), Rodrigo Muñoz (congas), and Jonathan Alexiuk (piano/arranger).
Katrina possesses a B.A. Hons in Theatre / Music performance (University of Winnipeg), and a B. Ed (University of Manitoba).
