Katrina Van Humbeck takes her audiences on a musical journey of love, courage, and living life, with her powerful, yet subtle and beautifully crafted vocals. While singing and playing the piano, Katrina performs classic Jazz standards and her own original music, with a genuine passion, sincerity, and flair that brings the stories and magic in these songs to life. Katrina’s expressiveness and theatrical prowess, draws her listeners in to experience emotions of laughter, romance, joy, and even tears during her performances.
Katrina’s musical journey began in her youth; flourishing as a theatrical singer and performer in school, to singing gospel and classical repertoire in church, on concert stages, and eventually thriving in the Teaching world for more than two decades, as a professional Educator of the Arts (Music, Choral, and Drama). It was a sense of personal loss in 2016 that prompted Katrina into songwriting, as a means of self-expression and her eventual transformation into a recording artist. Katrina’s debut album, Blue & Beyond, was released in February 2017, and her sophomore album, Doing A New Thing, was released eighteen months later, in October 2018.
Katrina’s music has been featured on Global News Morning Winnipeg, Classic 107.1 FM radio, CFAM Golden West 950 Radio, CJNU 93.7 FM Nostalgia Radio, and 101.5 UMFM Radio. Katrina was nominated as Jazz/Classical Artist for the 2019 Winnipeg Independent Music Awards (The Brewnos), celebrating Winnipeg’s local talent.

In addition to pursuing an active performance life, and being a recording artist, she teaches private voice, and directs a Vocal Jazz Ensemble at the Winnipeg Conservatory of Music. Whether Katrina is performing solo, in a duo, or with a full ten piece band, she delights in entertaining audiences around Winnipeg and abroad with her original music, and classic Jazz and soul standards, at festivals, concerts, hotels, restaurants, coffee shops, and house parties. She is inspired to have listeners relate to her music personally and be moved by the stories in her songs. When Katrina is not learning about music, creating music, performing music, or teaching students about music, she busies herself as a mother to her three sons and a wife to a supportive husband. Katrina possesses a Bachelor of Arts Honours Degree in Theatre and Music Performance from the University of Winnipeg, and a Bachelor of Education in Theatre and Music from the University of Manitoba.
