Katrina Van Humbeck, vocalist, songwriter, pianist, and album producer has finally found her stride as a ‘jazz artist to look out for’ on the Canadian music scene with her new album, ‘Only Love.’
Katrina’s vocal skills, solid album production, and songwriting prowess have earned her nominations with GMA Canada (Jazz Artist of the Year 2022), and with the Western Canadian Music Awards (Spiritual Artist of The Year 2020), for her previous three albums: ‘Stronger Still’ (2022), ‘Doing a New Thing’ (2018), and her debut album, ‘Blue and Beyond’ (2017).
In this new full length album, ‘Only Love,’ Katrina added her own flare to classic jazz standards and her own carefully crafted compositions that will take you back to vintage days of long ago.
“I’m thrilled to have recorded this music at award winning Private Ear Recording in Winnipeg, along with three of Canada’s finest jazz musicians,” explains Katrina.
“Recording music in a quartet with JUNO nominated Larry Roy on guitar, Karl Kohut (Professor of Jazz Studies at the University of Manitoba) on upright bass, seasoned jazz musician Jim Johnston on drums, and myself on vocals and piano was a thrilling experience! I’m excited to have released this new music that I believe will break ground for me as a jazz artist on the Canadian music scene.”
